Made from high-purity aluminum or aluminum alloys through precision processes such as melting, refining, continuous casting, and continuous rolling, these products are primarily used for drawing wire and cable conductors, shaped aluminum wires, and various aluminum conductors for electrical applications.
Electrical conductivity: At 20°C, the resistivity of a 1350 aluminum rod is ≤0.028264 Ω·mm²/m, and the electrical conductivity is ≥61% IACS. Density: 2.70 g/cm³ (only about 30% of copper’s, offering significant weight-saving advantages); Mechanical properties: tensile strength 100–150 MPa (for pure aluminum); for aluminum alloys, up to 200–300 MPa; elongation ≥20%. Corrosion resistance: A dense alumina oxide film readily forms on the surface, providing resistance to atmospheric corrosion; however, anti-corrosion treatment is required in acidic or alkaline environments. Machinability: Excellent ductility; can be cold-drawn into filaments thinner than 0.1 mm, and can be welded, bent, and extruded into a wide variety of shapes.
Production Process
Raw material preparation: electrolytic aluminum ingots (purity ≥ 99.7%) and alloying additives (if required); Smelting and refining: degassing, slag removal, and control of temperature and composition; Continuous casting: forming billets; Continuous rolling / Hot rolling: Rolling the billet into round bars of specified diameter; Cooling and online inspection (dimensional measurement, electrical conductivity, surface quality); Winding, packaging, and warehousing.
Main Application Areas
Power transmission: aluminum-conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR) conductors, aluminum-clad steel conductors, power cables, and overhead transmission lines; Electrical wires and cables: residential wiring, communication cables, control cables, and automotive wire harnesses; Electrical equipment: motor windings, transformer windings, enameled wire, and varnished wire; Industrial manufacturing: structural components, welding consumables, aluminum extrusion billets, and photovoltaic frames; Metallurgical auxiliary materials: deoxidizing aluminum rods are used for deoxidation and desulfurization in steelmaking.
